This committee, in consultation with appropriate faculty, review requests from Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) students for assessment of prior learning for course credits. Such prior learning may include military training based on recommendations from American Council on Education (ACE) transcripts or professional certifications from technical, vocational, private sector, or other organizations. Students not having such transcripts or credentials, but who have extensive work experience, may also petition the committee for credit by portfolio. Students who choose this option work with faculty members and university staff to prepare a portfolio that aims to establish that their work experience corresponds to learning objectives of specific classes such that they should receive credit for the course. The committee reviews student portfolios and renders recommendations for course credit to the Dean of Liberal Arts & Sciences. This is an ad-hoc committee meeting as needed.
Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences Program Coordinator to serve as Chair. One representative from Veterans Affairs, one representative from the Student Writing Center, two members from faculty (can be either interested parties or as appropriate based on discipline/expertise.)
