UNTD Computer Labs and Printing Procedures
Computers located in the General Access Labs (Founders 135 and DAL 1 201H) have been programmed to prevent downloading of unauthorized software. This impacts the saving of items such as documents and presentations.
- If you save anything on the computer’s Hard Drive and the computer is restarted or shut down, it will be deleted. There is no way to recover these files.
- Do not change the setting on the lab computers. Lab attendants must make any modifications.
- Headphones must be used when listening to any audio.
- No food or drinks are allowed in the General Access Labs.
- Lab attendants are not allowed to touch the keyboard when assisting patrons with troubleshooting things such as, but not limited to saving files and or assignments.
- Lab attendants reserve the right to ask patrons to leave the General Access Labs.
- Patrons will be given a 10-minute warning before the closing of the lab. At the designated time of closure, patrons will be logged off the workstations.
- 10 minutes before the closure of the labs no patron will be allowed in the General Access Labs.
Printing Procedure
Excessive student printing in the General Access Labs prompted the University to adopt a printing reduction initiative that includes duplex printing and limiting the number of pages students can print per semester. Students will be restricted from printing documents over 20 pages per print job and no more than 100 pages a day. Excessive printing will be defined as printing more than 100 pages per day and no more than 500 pages per semester. Only University coursework is approved for printing in the General Access Labs and all print jobs will be set to print duplex. Patrons are advised to proofread their jobs and limit their print jobs to a final draft.
Important Information
- Students will receive a 250 print page limit each semester at no additional cost.
- If a student depletes their balance, additional funds can be purchased online or at the IT Helpdesk.
- Students should manage their account balance, as they will not carry forward to the next semester.
- All printing will automatically default to two-sided printing (duplex).
- If there is a printer error (e.g., paper jam, low toner) please promptly contact a lab attendant.
- Reprints will not be given for non-printer errors such as blank pages at the end of a document, cancelled print jobs, printing the wrong document, or spelling mistakes.
**Funds Are Nonrefundable**
