What is Accounting?

The courses you take have been designed to help prepare you to work in today’s accounting environment. During your time at UNT Dallas, you will engage in a variety of experiential learning opportunities. Some students participate in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA) each spring, while others choose to complete internships with participating companies.
UNT Dallas offers several certification opportunities to accounting graduates, such as the Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified in Strategy and Competitive Analysis (CSCA) and the Enrolled Agent (EA), among others. These certifications can enhance your career-readiness. Best of all, accounting majors can work on any of these at the same time you are completing your undergraduate accounting degree. The undergraduate accounting courses will also count toward the requirements necessary to sit for the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam. Accounting majors can complete the additional requirements by going on to earn an MBA with an accounting concentration here at UNT Dallas
