A Middle Grades (4th-8th) ELAR Education degree from UNT Dallas is the first step in becoming a certified English Language Arts teacher in fourth through eighth grade. Middle Grades Education majors can choose from four pathways: ELAR, math, science, and social studies. Students in the ELAR Education with ESL pathway will be prepared to teach English, language arts, and reading in upper elementary and middle school. Many school districts in Texas require teachers to have an ESL supplemental certification.
