The earlier a student can begin planning, the better. However, it highly recommended that students meet with the Assistant Director of International Programs the Fall before going abroad in the upcoming summer.
UNT Dallas offers summer programs that are approximately five and a half weeks long.
The programs cost roughly $6,000. This includes tuition and fees, housing, meals (except Rome), international insurance, cultural activities, and overnight excursions.
Airfare, passports, and personal spending money are not included.
Yes. Students who use funding through the FASFA form can often use that funding to assist them in studying abroad. Additionally, there are scholarships specifically for study abroad.
Students who participate in the programs in Spain are encouraged to live with a homestay. This is a native family who has agreed to open their home to foreign students. This video highlights one students experience.
If you are interested in the Rome program students will be encouraged to live in a student apartment. The apartment will be fully furnished and your roommates will be other students from the United States. However, if neither of these options works for you, other accommodations can be discussed individually.
All UNT Dallas students studying abroad during the summer must take two courses/6 credits. These credits will transfer back to UNT Dallas after your time abroad.
As part of the study abroad application process, you will meet with your academic advisor to select the courses you are interested in taking abroad. This will help you stay on track to meet your graduation date.
No. The program does not require you to speak another language. All courses, minus Spanish language courses, are taught in English.
