What is a minor in Applied Linguistics?

The Applied Linguistics minor at UNT Dallas offers you an opportunity to study the English language from a linguistic perspective as it relates to developing job skills in Education, Publishing, Research, and Professional Communication. The skills that are developed in linguistic inquiry, field work, and analysis can serve as vital resources for empowering you and strengthening our community. The minor also complements your major area of study by focusing on strategies for enhancing their own language use, metalinguistic knowledge, and self-efficacy in communication. The courses in this minor align with the key competencies of critical thinking, information literacy, and inquiry & analysis and are thus well-positioned to augment other fields of study at the university.

About our Applied Linguistics Minor

With courses offered year-around, we’ll help ensure you can complete the Applied Linguistics minor in time to graduate.

Also, forget buying textbooks! All the materials in our courses are provided for free.
