The Application Process: A Step-by-Step Guide to Applying
Graduate admission to UNT Dallas is a shared process involving the Office of Graduate Admissions and the graduate faculty of the University. Each academic department has a designated program coordinator who serves as a liaison between the department and the admissions office and provides detailed information about program entry requirements.

There are two steps to apply for admission to a graduate program.
Step 1: Primary application: The Apply Texas Application.

- Must be completed first.
- Generates your UNT Dallas ID# up to 24 business hours after we download it.
- You will receive an email with instructions on how to setup your student portal.
Step 2: Supplemental program application: The Graduate School General Application Form. (Must use Google Chrome browser.)

- Some required information and documents must be uploaded with the supplemental application prior to submission. Must submit application to initiate the process below.
- Uses your UNT Dallas ID# to generate emails with additional information and instructions
regarding next steps. Application submission intiates process

- GradSchool@untdallas.edu - contains essay prompt and upload instructions
- You will receive an email from the following email address: (check spam)
- Letters of Recommendation: If you are required to list references, they will be emailed automatically once
the Graduate Admissions Office completes its part of your supplemental application
form.
- Please notify those that you select to submit recommendations that you have done so; and, let them know that they will be receiving an email from GradSchool@untdallas.edu.
- When you submit the supplemental form, you will have the opportunity to print or email a copy for your records.

- Certification Only - Alternative Teacher Certification (post baccalaureate)
- Certification Only - Principal Certification (post-master's)
- Certification Only - Counseling Completion (LPC or School Counseling)
- Certificate (Graduate) - College and Career Readiness (post baccalaureate)

Do not complete this form if you are pursuing a non-specific post-baccalaureate program (second bachelor's degree or undergraduate non-degree status).
Transcripts: Transcripts are not uploaded with either application. Secure and official electronic transcripts (GreenLight, eScrip-Safe, National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment, etc.) must be sent directly from the college/university to GradSchool@untdallas.edu. You must request official transcripts from ALL colleges and universities you previously attended regardless of credit or degree was awarded.
NOTE: To Education and Teacher/Certification programs: Post Admit Process
Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements state that UNT Dallas must report newly admitted students in the Educator Certification Online System (ECOS) within 7 days after the university offers admission and the new student accepts admission.
IF the Program Coordinator offers you admission to your desired academic program, you will receive an email from GradSchool@untdallas.edu notifying you of your next step - accept or decline the offer of admission and complete the Code of Ethics Form.
Step 1: Read and sign the Code of Ethics Form and save to your computer or device.
Step 2: Click in the email to open the Program Admission Letter & Confirmation Form. Complete the required fields, attach the Code of Ethics form, sign, and submit.
