Programs
The Federal TRIO Programs - The Upward Bound Program began in 1964 through the Economic Opportunity Act to address the High Poverty Levels within our country. To address additional student needs not taken in consideration with the initial programming for our most disadvantaged students; our Federal Government provided expanded resources via Educational Talent Search, Ronald E. McNair Scholars and Educational Opportunity Centers to create extension programs to ensure student access and completion of Undergraduate studies.
The TRIO Programs at the University of North Texas at Dallas are 100% federally fund and designed to support the academic development of students within our partner schools of Dallas ISD and surrounding school districts, as well as undergraduate students of UNT Dallas. The TRIO programs at UNT Dallas include:
-
Upward Bound
- Educational Talent Search
-
Ronald E. McNair Scholars
The TRIO Programs at UNT Dallas are integral partners with our Partner School Districts by providing services to their low-income and 1st Generation College students of promise with intentional programs that support the holistic development of their students. The goal is to provide a vision, framework and detailed plan for each student to successfully attain a High School Diploma and Collegiate Degree in order to become active participants of our society.
