Yolanda Franklin joined UNT Dallas as the Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communication in December 2019. In this position, she is responsible for strengthening the university’s marketing and branding strategies, media relations, graphic design, social media, visual identity, and external and internal communications.
Yolanda provides strategic advice to senior campus leaders regarding marketing, communications, public relations, business development, and enrollment. She also conducts a professional business communications series for university students.
A Texas native, Yolanda has more than 20 years of leadership experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, and corporate communications. She has worked in various industries, including advertising agencies, telecom, and newspapers, and has led award-winning marketing and communications teams in higher education.
Before joining UNT Dallas, Yolanda served as Director of Marketing and Creative Services at Texas Woman’s University in Denton. In that role, she managed all marketing and brand identity aspects for the Denton, Dallas, and Houston campuses, including introducing a new logo and mascot. She developed and implemented integrated marketing plans that supported recruitment growth for three campuses and created strategic marketing plans to build brand awareness for the university’s programs, faculty research, and student initiatives.
Yolanda holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of North Texas, a professional certification in digital marketing, and is currently working to complete her master’s degree. She actively participates in professional and community committees and volunteers, particularly for special-needs youth. Yolanda has also been honored with the UNT Dallas Trailblazer Elite Mentorship Empowerment Award.
