The University of North Texas at Dallas has become a permanent member of the historic Bonton neighborhood in southern Dallas thanks to a group of trailblazing students who painted a "Love & Happiness" mural that now graces the outside of a Habitat For Humanity home that is under construction.
The colorful mural was painted on 4-feet by 8-feet sheets that are used to sheath the outside walls of the home, which is located at 2730 Silkwood Street.
The mural will ultimately be covered by insulation and siding, but will remain with the home and in the hearts of the new homeowners forever. The family moving in will forever remember the mural and the inspiration it provided during the construction phase. Habitat homeowners put in 250 hours of sweat equity working on the construction of their home as their down payment.
