Fall 2024 Commencement Set for Dec. 17 at Texas Trust CU Theatre

More than 400 students will receive undergraduate and graduate degrees during UNT Dallas’ Fall 2024 Commencement ceremonies, which will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Texas Trust CU Theatre in Grand Prairie.

Commencement will occur at 11 a.m. for the Schools of Business and Education and 3 p.m. for the Schools of Health and Human Services and Liberal Arts and Sciences. In total, 432 students will receive degrees: 372 are undergraduates, and 60 are graduate students. Participation is voluntary, so not all Fall 2024 graduates will be in attendance.

This is a milestone achievement. Throughout their time at UNT Dallas, students participate in experiential learning opportunities and internships that prepare them to meet today’s in-demand careers.

Many of our students work while attending college, which has helped them master critical soft skills like time management and multitasking. About a third of those we serve are considered nontraditional college students (ages 25 years or older) and likely have additional caretaking responsibilities.

This semester’s keynote speaker is Lynn McBee, CEO of the Young Women’s Preparatory Network (YWPN). This public-private partnership creates STEM-focused schools of choice in an all-girls setting. To date, YWPN graduates have a 100% college acceptance rate, many of whom will be first-generation college students. McBee has served as CEO for over 10 years. She currently sits on more than a dozen Dallas community and philanthropic boards.

In addition, McBee has been a prolific volunteer leader in Dallas for more than three decades, serving more than 30 nonprofits. She received a biochemistry degree from the University of Texas and was an early hire at New England Biolabs (NEB), where she worked as a research scientist. She also created essential partnerships to help grow the company, which is today a world leader in genomic research. McBee still serves as a manager and employee-owner.

Tickets are not required to attend the commencement ceremonies. Guests are encouraged to limit the number of items they bring into the venue and instead celebrate students with applause, cheers and smiles. Graduate students may also participate in a Hooding Ceremony on Friday, Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center, Campus Hall.
