UNT Dallas Police Chief Christopher Shaw on Thursday was named a Campus Safety magazine Director of the Year finalist.
Each year Campus Safety magazine honors the nation’s school, university and hospital police chiefs, security directors and emergency managers. Finalists are selected for their dedication, professionalism and creativity. Winners will be announced at the Campus Safety Conference West (CSC), which is being held in Las Vegas on June 17-19. On July 21-23, Campus Safety will hold its second CSC Texas. The event was held last summer at the Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas.
Chief Shaw took charge of the UNT Dallas Police Department last April after serving as interim chief since 2016. One of the founding members of the UNT Dallas Police Department, Chief Shaw served as a commissioned law enforcement officer for nine years, starting his career at the University of North Texas Police Department as a patrol officer and crime prevention liaison before transitioning to UNT Dallas.
Last year's Campus Safety Director of the Year award for higher education was presented to UNT Police Chief Ed Reynolds.
