UNTD Greater Texas Foundation Blazers Scholars Program

student at tabling eventThe Greater Texas Foundation Blazers Scholars Program provides students with financial assistance and support systems for three years. These support systems will help Early College High School (ECHS) graduates transition from high school to UNT Dallas, and through their journey to bachelor's degree completion.

The program accepts 40 students per cohort and provides them with scholarships depending on each student’s needs. This exclusive opportunity is more than financial assistance throughout their college journey. Students also receive ongoing academic, social, and emotional support to ensure their success.

Benefits

  • Guaranteed $1,000 scholarship per year (3-year maximum);
  • Can earn up to $4,000 per year (3-year maximum)
  • Access to the state-wide annual GTF Leadership Conference* (for selected scholars), workshops, learning trips and programs
  • Guided exploration to career and higher education opportunities
  • Intentional, one-on-one guidance to successfully complete bachelor’s degree and go beyond, if desired

Program Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this grant, a student must:

  • Be a graduate of a TEA-designated Texas Early College High School in the Spring prior to entering UNT Dallas
  • Be eligible to apply for Free Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Demonstrate financial need as defined by the U.S. Department of Education
  • Earned a minimum of 24 college credits
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4-point scale) for college hours completed
  • Must be admitted into UNT Dallas for the Fall semester
  • Applied for FAFSA/TASFA
  • Submit an online application for the Greater Texas Foundation UNT Dallas Blazer Scholarship Program (see below)

Program Requirements

  • Be admitted to for the fall semester
  • Attend UNT Dallas new student orientation
  • Participate in the Greater Texas Foundation Blazers Scholars Program events and other programmatic activities
  • Maintain a 2.5 or higher cumulative UNT Dallas GPA
  • Continue to demonstrate financial need as defined by the U.S. Department of Education
